EXEMPLARY CORRECTIONS SERVICE HONOURED

Released on May 29, 1998

Lieutenant Governor Jack Wiebe and Justice Minister John Nilson today

recognized 19 men and one woman for career achievements in the

provincial and federal correctional services.



Recipients of the Corrections Exemplary Service Awards must have

worked for at least 10 years in a correctional institution, parole or

probation office and have demonstrated exemplary conduct and displayed

excellence and devotion to duty.



"These individuals deserve to be recognized for the important

contributions they have made to the justice system," Nilson said.

"Corrections staff assist in keeping our communities safe and are

instrumental in the development of effective programming for

offenders. Congratulations to all recipients."



20 recipients received Exemplary Service Medals for at least 20 years

of distinguished service with the Corrections Branch of Saskatchewan

Justice or the Correctional Service of Canada. Two previous medal

recipients received Exemplary Service Bars recognizing an additional

decade of service.



Saskatchewan Justice 1998 honourees are: G. Craig Campbell,

Walter Disiewich and Garry Pischke from the Prince Albert

Correctional Centre; Oreland Dean and Roy Halliwell from the

Prince Albert Community-Training Residence; Gordon Wentworth from

the Battlefords Community Correctional Centre and the North

Battleford Community-Training Residence; and Don Head, Executive

Director of Corrections, Saskatchewan Justice.



Correctional Service of Canada 1998 honourees are: Albert

Armstrong from Regional Headquarters in Saskatoon; Ronald

Boettcher, Fred Chester, Lloyd Clarke, Sheldon Curran, Rick

Evans, Sam Hurford, Frank Koziol, Frank MacGregor, Philip Mackie

and Jane von Glahn from Saskatchewan Penitentiary in Prince

Albert; and Bill Cej, Richard Evans and Patrick Moan from

Riverbend Institution.
