Released on March 11, 1998
Post-Secondary Education and Skills Training Minister Joanne Crofford,
on behalf of Municipal Government Minister Carol Teichrob, today
announced that the All Nations Hope Aids Network has received $7,000
of casino profits through the Associated Entities Fund.
The All Nations Hope Aids Network will use the grant to provide a
forum where HIV and AIDS will be the focus of discussion on how
Aboriginal parents see a healthy future for their children and to
develop a handbook for use in the Aboriginal and professional
communities.
"The province established the Associated Entities Fund to distribute a
portion of casino profits for the benefit of Saskatchewan people,"
Crofford said. "Since the beginning of 1997 more than $1 million in
casino profits have been distributed, throughout Saskatchewan, for
programs that support children, youth and families - $210,000 for
Regina and area."
The Associated Entities Fund receives a portion of the profits from
Casino Regina; the Gold Eagle Casino, North Battleford; the Northern
Lights Casino, Prince Albert; and the Painted Hand Casino, Yorkton.
Crofford said the Associated Entities Fund provides grants to
community organizations for programs and services that support
children, youth and families.
