CASINO FUNDS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO KAMSACK AND ESTERHAZY AREA YOUTH

Released on June 30, 1998

Municipal Government Minister Carol Teichrob today announced that six

groups have received $17,280 in casino profits through the Associated

Entities Fund to assist in funding educational activities for young

people.



"The province established the Associated Entities Fund to distribute a

portion of casino profits for the benefit of Saskatchewan people,"

Teichrob said. "Since the beginning of 1997 more than $2 million in

casino profits have been distributed throughout Saskatchewan for

programs that support children, youth and families."



The Kamsack and District Parks and Recreation Association received

$1,800 for "Little Egg Folks", a program designed for preschool

children. This program is designed to encourage children to develop a

positive attitude toward others using songs, dance and stories.



Kamsack Family Resource Centre received $5,000 for summer activities

for children, youth and families. The intent is to encourage families

to spend time together in a healthy and safe environment.



The Norquay Recreation Board received $1,000 for three summer sports

camps in Norquay and area.



Esterhazy and Area Respite for Special Needs Children Committee

received $5,000 to provide recreational programs for children

with special needs.



The Hoffman Elementary School received $1,880 for the Langenburg

Summer Support Project to provide ongoing learning activities

through the summer months for children at-risk.



The Potashville School Division in partnership with the Esterhazy

Child Action Committee, North Valley Health District and the

Parent and Preschool Program received $2,600 to implement the

Parents Assist Learning and Schooling program.



Associated Entities Fund receives a portion of the profits from

Casino Regina, the Gold Eagle Casino, North Battleford, the

Northern Lights Casino, Prince Albert and the Painted Hand

Casino, Yorkton.
