SASKENERGY ANNOUNCES NEW NETWORK & APPLIANCE FINANCING

Released on June 25, 1998

SaskEnergy President and Chief Executive Officer Ron Clark today

announced the formation of the new SaskEnergy Natural Gas Network, an

independent network of natural gas retailers and contractors that will

offer natural gas appliances, installations and financing to make it

easier for customers to choose natural gas options.

"We want our customers to know that we're committed to providing the

best price and the best service possible and this is another key step

forward in delivering that assurance," Clark said. "The SaskEnergy

Natural Gas Network will help us meet customers' expectations as we

head into an increasingly competitive market."

The SaskEnergy Network was formed through industry dialogue which

began last summer between SaskEnergy, the Mechanical Contractors

Association of Saskatchewan, the Natural Gas Appliance and Equipment

Dealers Association and independent natural gas retailers and

contractors. Industry members have teamed up to offer customers

easier access to natural gas appliances and equipment, installations

and convenient financing.

"In other provinces, gas companies are preparing for competition in

various ways, including the outright purchase of plumbing and heating

shops," Clark said. "But we're working with industry because

co-operation is the Saskatchewan way."

The Network's services will include appliance financing which

will allow customers to finance any natural gas product or

service on approved credit. SaskEnergy has offered Customer

Financing on natural gas lines since January and the service has

proven successful.

"The Network provides us with a number of business growth

opportunities, such as joint advertising, business leads,

up-to-date information and more," said Arnie Shaw of Centennial

Plumbing & Heating in Saskatoon. "Independent businesses like

mine are excited about working with SaskEnergy and the rest of

the industry to better serve our customers."

Network members will be identified by a distinctive blue and

beige logo. A list of Network members and membership packages is

available through local SaskEnergy offices.
