John Wall, MLA for Swift Current, on behalf of Municipal Government Minister Carol Teichrob, today announced that three Swift Current area community groups have received $12,000 in casino profits through the Associated Entities Fund to assist funding summer activities for young people.
"The province established the Associated Entities Fund to distribute a portion of casino profits for the benefit of Saskatchewan people," Wall said. "Since the beginning of 1997 more than $2 million in casino profits have been distributed throughout Saskatchewan for programs that support children, youth and families."
The Swift Current Recreation and Parks received $5,000 for the Ultimate Youth Program. This program will provide a variety of recreational activities and educational opportunities for youth, including youth at risk.
The Swift Current Big Brothers/Big Sisters received $2,000 to produce a brochure of the no-cost/low-cost activities available for financially disadvantaged youth and low income families.
The Saskatchewan Abilities Council - Swift Current Branch received $5,000 to provide a summer fun program for disabled children ages 5 to 16. This program with the help of volunteers will enable disabled children to participate in a variety of community programs and activities.
Associated Entities Fund receives a portion of the profits from Casino Regina, the Gold Eagle Casino, North Battleford, the Northern Lights Casino, Prince Albert and the Painted Hand Casino, Yorkton.
