ELEVEN PRINCE ALBERT COMMUNITY GROUPS RECEIVE FUNDING FROM CASINO PROFITS

Energy and Mines Minister Eldon Lautermilch, on behalf of Municipal

Government Minister Carol Teichrob, today announced that eleven Prince

Albert area community groups have received $42,050 in casino profits

through the Associated Entities Fund.



The grants will assist in funding summer activities for young people

in Prince Albert and area.



"The province established the Associated Entities Fund to distribute a

portion of casino profits for the benefit of Saskatchewan people,"

Lautermilch said. "Since the beginning of 1997 more than $2 million

in casino profits have been distributed throughout Saskatchewan for

programs that support children, youth and families."



The Prince Albert Early Childhood Intervention Program received $4,800

for an interactive pre-school summer program.



Prince Albert Children's Haven received $5,000 for a summer outing

program.



The emergency shelter for women received $5,000 for a summertime fun

program.



Prince Albert YWCA received $5,000 for a Montessori Fun in the

Summer' program.



Won Ska Cultural School received $5,000 for students from Vincent

Massey Community School to attend a four-day international

conference for at-risk youth in the Black Hills of North Dakota.



The Prince Albert Housing Authority Keyanow Tenant Association

received $2,500 for a summer youth program in the East Flat area.



The Red Cross received $2,750 for a five-week summer camp

experience for grade five and six students from Vincent Massey

Community School.



Catholic Family Services received $1,000 for a shared parenting

program in partnership with the Co-operative Health Centre.



Share A Meal/Foodbank received $2,000 for a summer snack program

at the city's playgrounds.



Associated Entities Fund receives a portion of the profits from

Casino Regina, the Gold Eagle Casino, North Battleford, the

Northern Lights Casino, Prince Albert and the Painted Hand

Casino, Yorkton.
