CASINO FUNDS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO SCEP CENTRE, ARGYLE PARK COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

Kim Trew, MLA - Regina Coronation Park, on behalf of Municipal

Government Minister Carol Teichrob, today announced that two community

groups have received $9,000 in casino profits through the Associated

Entities Fund.



The grants will assist in funding summer activities for young people.



"The province established the Associated Entities Fund to distribute a

portion of casino profits for the benefit of Saskatchewan people,"

Trew said. "Since the beginning of 1997 more than $2 million in

casino profits have been distributed throughout Saskatchewan for

programs that support children, youth and families."



The Socialization, Communication and Education Program (SCEP) centre

received $5,000 to support Summer Friends 1998'. The program is a

summer day camp which will include many supervised excursions into the

community for the young SCEP centre children.



The Argyle Park Community Association received $4,000 for a Fun Spots

Summer Program'. The program will offer children and youth the

opportunity to participate in activities and events throughout the

summer. The programs will help build self-esteem and self-confidence

in the children.



Associated Entities Fund receives a portion of the profits from

Casino Regina, the Gold Eagle Casino, North Battleford, the

Northern Lights Casino, Prince Albert and the Painted Hand

Casino, Yorkton.
