CASINO FUNDS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR SUMMER RECREATION PROGRAMS

Redberry Lake MLA Walter Jess, on behalf of Municipal Government

Minister Carol Teichrob, today announced that two Blaine Lake area and

one Mayfair area summer activity projects have received $7,850 in

casino profits through the Associated Entities Fund.



The grants will assist in funding the programs dealing with children,

youth and families in Blaine Lake and Mayfair.



"The province established the Associated Entities Fund to distribute a

portion of casino profits for the benefit of Saskatchewan people,"

Jess said. "Since the beginning of 1997 more than $2 million in

casino profits have been distributed throughout Saskatchewan for

programs that support children, youth and families."



The Mayfair Recreation Board received $2,850 towards a summer program

emphasizing healthy lifestyles and accident prevention.



The Blaine Lake Community Fundraising Organization and the Blaine Lake

Recreation Board received $5,000 for a summer recreation program for

children between three and 16 years old. The program will include

sports, music, games and crafts, as well as a primary preschool

playground. The programs will be for children and youth who would not

otherwise have the opportunity to take part in these programs.



Associated Entities Fund receives a portion of the profits from Casino

Regina, the Gold Eagle Casino, North Battleford, the Northern Lights

Casino, Prince Albert and the Painted Hand Casino, Yorkton.
