CASINO FUNDS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO YOUTH IN YORKTON

Health Minister Clay Serby, on behalf of Municipal Government Minister

Carol Teichrob, today announced that four Yorkton organizations

received a total of $24,200 in casino profits through the Associated

Entities Fund.



"The province established the Associated Entities Fund to distribute a

portion of casino profits for the benefit of Saskatchewan people,"

Serby said. "Since the beginning of 1997 nearly $3 million in casino

profits have been distributed throughout Saskatchewan for programs

that support children, youth and families."



The Yorkton Mental Health Centre received $5,000 for a Body Image and

Self-Esteem symposium to raise awareness and prevent eating disorders.



The Yorkton Women In Need received $4,200 toward a rally for youth,

aged 10 to 13 which will address issues relating to dating, violence

and healthy relationships.



Yorkton Big Brothers and Sisters Inc. received $10,000 for an In

School Mentorship Program designed to create a positive school

environment for children at risk.



The Yorkton On The Move Committee received $5,000 to provide

programming to teenagers designed to promote the benefits of active

living and encourage a positive self image.



Associated Entities Fund receives a portion of the profits from

Casino Regina, the Gold Eagle Casino, North Battleford, the

Northern Lights Casino, Prince Albert and the Painted Hand

Casino, Yorkton.
