CASINO FUNDS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO SASKATOON YOUTH

Municipal Government Minister Carol Teichrob today announced that 13

Saskatoon groups have received $48,720 in casino profits through the

Associated Entities Fund.



"The province established the Associated Entities Fund to distribute a

portion of casino profits for the benefit of Saskatchewan people,"

Teichrob said. "Since the beginning of 1997 more than $2 million in

casino profits have been distributed throughout Saskatchewan for

programs that support children, youth and families."



The grants will provide a number of organizations funding for programs

such as: a summer reading program, a music program for children with

disabilities related to cerebral palsy, abuse clinics, a recreation

program for children with mental or physical handicaps, instruction in

sign language for the deaf or hard of hearing as well as several youth

summer camps and sports camps.



Associated Entities Fund receives a portion of the profits from Casino

Regina, the Gold Eagle Casino, North Battleford, the Northern Lights

Casino, Prince Albert and the Painted Hand Casino, Yorkton.

The following 13 Saskatoon groups have received grants through the Associated Entities Fund:



Tamara's House: Service for Sexual Abuse Survivors Inc. received $3,500 to offer a variety of summer activities for survivors of sexual abuse.



Confederation Park Community School received $2,820 for a summer reading program to assist children with increasing their literacy skills.



Saskatchewan Cerebral Palsy Association received $2,950 to provide a summer program of music and educational recreation activities for children who have a disability related to cerebral palsy.



Epilepsy Saskatoon received $1,280 for an epilepsy workshop for parents and youth.



The Saskatchewan Abilities Council received $5,000 for their Celebrate Summer Program, a summer

program for children with physical disabilities and their non-disable peers.



EGADZ - Saskatoon Downtown Youth Centre's Summer Blast program received $1,420 to offer

summer activities for youth at risk.



The Saskatoon Association for Community Living received $4,000 to provide summer recreation for

children with disabilities.



Saskatchewan Wheelchair Sport Association received $8,000 for their Youth Adventures Summer

Camps.



The Saskatchewan Deaf Children's Society received $5,000 to fund a Family Sing Language Group

Information Presentation.



The Saskatoon Family Service Bureau will use its $5,000 grant for a Summer Recreation Program.



Kise Wa To Ta To Win's Aboriginal Parent Program Inc. received $2,250 to offer parenting

workshops to teach the principles of traditional parenting methods.



Saskatoon Society for Autism Inc. received $5,000 for the community summer program for children

with autism.



The Boys & Girls Clubs of Saskatoon received $2,500 to fund their Day Camps 98.
