Deputy Premier and Crown Investments Corporation Minister Dwain
Lingenfelter and Garry Simons, group vice president, Operations,
SaskTel, today officially opened the Saskatoon location of the SaskTel
Customer Care Centre, located at 446 - 2nd Avenue North, Saskatoon.
"Call centres are an important aspect of SaskTel's strategic
direction," Lingenfelter said. "The Customer Care Centre is another
example of SaskTel's commitment to customer service and it will
showcase SaskTel's leading edge technology in providing innovative
telecommunications solutions."
Customers phoning SaskTel from anywhere in the province to inquire
about any of SaskTel's services will now have their call answered by
SaskTel telephone professionals at the Customer Care Centre. The
Customer Care Centre will also handle incoming calls from residential
and business customers related to Internet sales, credit services and
114 trouble call. In the Customer Care Centre environment, SaskTel
customer service representatives are able to work collectively to
answer a much more comprehensive range of questions for SaskTel
customers and do so quicker.
"The SaskTel Customer Care Centre demonstrates that SaskTel is
committed to exceeding our customers' expectations when it comes
to customer service," Simons said. "The Customer Care Centre
serves as a cornerstone in the delivery such customer service
initiatives as customer self service, flexible service delivery
and extended hours of service."
The SaskTel Customer Care Centre is the first fully blended,
multi-functional, geographically dispersed call centre in North
America, meaning it can handle both inbound and outbound calls
and multiple services such as sales, inquiries and credit
services. The Saskatoon location of the Customer Care Centre
will have approximately 115 employees.
The Saskatoon Customer Care Centre location is a landmark
building which was constructed in 1927. The building was
extensively renovated in 1993 by the previous tenant, resulting
in the architect receiving the Heritage Award for preservation of
unique characteristics within the building.
SaskTel is the leading full service communications company in
Saskatchewan, providing voice, data, Internet, text and messaging
services over a fiber optic-based, 100 per cent digital network,
as well as cellular, paging and FleetNet 800 service through its
SaskTel Mobility division.
