HIGH SPEED INTERNET SERVICE NOW EXPANDED FOR PRINCE ALBERT

Released on January 15, 1998

Deputy Premier and Crown Investments Corporation Minister Dwain

Lingenfelter today announced SaskTel is now offering its SympaticoTM

High Speed service to residential and business customers in Prince

Albert.

"Since SaskTel began offering high-speed Internet service to

residential customers in Regina and Saskatoon in 1996, there has been

an increasing demand for this leading-edge technology from customers

outside of these cities," Lingenfelter said. "By expanding this

service, SaskTel will meet this demand and will also strengthen its

position in the forefront of the interactive and multimedia service

industry in Saskatchewan and outside our provincial borders."

In November, 1996, SaskTel became the first telephone company in North

America to offer high-speed Internet service using Digital Subscriber

Line (DSL) technology with the introduction of Sympatico High Speed to

Regina and Saskatoon. Sympatico High Speed offers high-speed Internet

access at up to 50 times faster than basic Internet dial service. It

also allows simultaneous phone conversations and Internet use on one

phone line.

As of today, Sympatico High Speed will now be available to residential

and business customers in Prince Albert.

"By offering this service to more customers, SaskTel will build

on its reputation as a leader in the competitive Internet

market," said Dan Baldwin, Senior Vice President, Strategic

Business Development and Marketing. "Having high-speed Internet

technology available to more people in more Saskatchewan

locations is a top priority for SaskTel."

Until the end of March 1998, SaskTel is making a Special

Introductory Offer of Sympatico High Speed. During this period,

the price for all new, and existing, subscribers will be $59.95

per month. For customers of an alternate long-distance carrier,

the price will be $79.95 per month. As well, during this period,

the standard $99.00 service connection charge will be waived for

all new subscribers.

SaskTel's Sympatico High Speed dealer in Prince Albert is

PA Software Inc.

SaskTel is the leading full service communications company in

Saskatchewan, providing voice, data, Internet, text and messaging

services over a fiber optic-based, 100 per cent digital network,

as well as cellular, paging and FleetNet 800 service through its

SaskTel Mobility division.
