PREMIER ROMANOW CONGRATULATES CHIEF BLAINE FAVEL

Premier Roy Romanow today congratulated Chief Blaine Favel of the

Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations on his appointment by the

Government of Canada as International Consul on Indigenous Matters.



"I offer my heartfelt congratulations to Chief Favel on his

appointment," Premier Romanow said. "Since Favel was elected in 1992

we have worked together to strengthen our co-operative relationship."



Premier Romanow said that Chief Favel would bring his considerable

talents and diplomatic skill to the world stage in his new

appointment. "I fully expect Chief Favel to continue to promote

Aboriginal issues and Saskatchewan issues internationally."



The premier also stated that he looked forward to continuing the

positive working relationship between the Province and the Federation

of Saskatchewan Indian Nations.
