FIVE PRINCE ALBERT COMMUNITY GROUPS RECEIVE FUNDING FROM CASINO PROFITS

Energy and Mines Minister Eldon Lautermilch, on behalf of Municipal

Affairs, Culture and Housing Minister Carol Teichrob today announced

that five Prince Albert area community groups have received $26,950 in

casino profits through the Associated Entities Fund.



"The province established the Associated Entities Fund to distribute a

portion of casino profits for the benefit of Saskatchewan people,"

Lautermilch said. "Since the beginning of 1997 more than $3 million

in casino profits have been distributed throughout Saskatchewan for

programs that support children, youth and families."



The Prince Albert Metis Women's Association Inc. received $13,000 for

The West Flat Winter Youth Program. This program will provide

recreational, cultural and social activities for youth aged 13 to 17

in order to build self-esteem and develop healthy relationships.



Child Mother Futures Program, YWCA and the Children's Haven received

$8,620 to provide monthly workshops for parents to learn skills to

assist in better handling stress, anger and the pressures of

parenting.



The Play and Learn Day Care Centre received $4,000 for the We Are

Family Program which provides a learning environment for children

and families. Activities include family discussions, talking

circles, cultural crafts and music programs.



The Prince Albert Committee on Problem Gambling received $750 for

a one day workshop targeted at family members of problem

gamblers. This symposium will also raise community awareness on

the impact of problem gambling on the family.



Prince Albert Roman Catholic Separate School Division #6 received

$580 to assist in providing neighbourhood-based support services

to at-risk children and youth.



The Associated Entities Fund receives a portion of the profits

from Casino Regina, the Gold Eagle Casino, North Battleford, the

Northern Lights Casino, Prince Albert and the Painted Hand

Casino, Yorkton.
