OFFICIAL OPENING OF HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE SUITES

Social Services Minister Lorne Calvert, on behalf of Municipal

Government Minister Carol Teichrob, and Moose Jaw Mayor Ray Boughen

today officially opened two handicapped accessible suites at Victoria

Towers in Moose Jaw.



"Seniors housing is a critical element in the development and delivery

of community based services that help maintain people's independence",

Calvert said. "The provincial government recognizes the importance

and the need for quality housing for Saskatchewan seniors."



Victoria Towers now consists of 154 suites, including the two which

have been renovated to accommodate persons with physical disabilities.

The Moose Jaw Housing Authority Office was relocated in order to make

space available for the handicapped accessible suites.



Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, Saskatchewan Municipal

Government and the City of Moose Jaw shared the $140,000 cost of the

renovations.
