Released on April 17, 1998
Health Minister Clay Serby, on behalf of Municipal Government Minister
Carol Teichrob, today announced that two Yorkton area organizations
will receive $32,500 of casino profits through the Associated Entities
Fund.
SIGN will receive $28,500 to use a "street-based" approach to connect
youth at-risk with solutions to the complex issues they face.
Victims Services will receive $4,000 to provide teens and children in
10 schools with a quick reference to agencies, people and phone
numbers to assist them in a personal crisis situation.
"The province established the Associated Entities Fund to distribute a
portion of casino profits for the benefit of Saskatchewan people,"
Serby said. "Since the beginning of 1997 more than $1 million in
casino profits have been distributed throughout Saskatchewan for
programs that support children, youth and families - almost $74,000 in
the Yorkton area."
The Associated Entities Fund receives a portion of the profits from
Casino Regina; the Gold Eagle Casino, North Battleford; the Northern
Lights Casino, Prince Albert; and the Painted Hand Casino, Yorkton.
Serby said the Associated Entities Fund provides grants to
community organizations for programs and services that support
children, youth and families.
