Swift Current MLA John Wall, on behalf of Municipal Government
Minister Carol Teichrob, today announced that two Swift Current area
organizations will receive more than $35,500 of casino profits through
the Associated Entities Fund.
The South West Safe Shelter will receive $31,900 to put in place a
system to co-ordinate and facilitate service to victims of personal
and family violence in South West Saskatchewan.
The Behavioural Management Project will receive $2,634 to purchase a
computer to facilitate research, communication and data collection for
a three-year project looking at the full spectrum of services to meet
the needs of children and youth with persistent and severe
behavioural, social and emotional challenges.
"The province established the Associated Entities Fund to distribute a
portion of casino profits for the benefit of Saskatchewan people,"
Wall said. "Since the beginning of 1997 more than $1 million in
casino profits have been distributed throughout Saskatchewan for
programs that support children, youth and families - more than $46,500
for the Swift Current area."
The Associated Entities Fund receives a portion of the profits
from Casino Regina; the Gold Eagle Casino, North Battleford; the
Northern Lights Casino, Prince Albert; and the Painted Hand
Casino, Yorkton.
Wall said the Associated Entities Fund provides grants to
community organizations for programs and services that support
children, youth and families.
