GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES $500,000 FOR SASKFILM

Municipal Government Minister Carol Teichrob today announced $500,000

in additional funding for SaskFILM for 1997-98.



"This funding will maintain the production capacity of Saskatchewan

film makers and ensure the creation of diverse and quality cultural

films and videos," Teichrob said. "Excellence and professionalism in

the film and video industry are vital to Saskatchewan's cultural

presence in the world."



Teichrob said that the $500,000 allocation will generate about

$6 million in production, creating more than 100 jobs and nearly

$8 million in economic activity. Saskatchewan production will

continue to be an important means of taking our message to the rest of

Canada and the world.
