EXEMPLARY CORRECTIONS SERVICE HONOURED

Released on May 26, 1997

Lieutenant Governor Jack Wiebe and Justice Minister John Nilson today

recognized 19 men and women for career achievements in the provincial

and federal correctional services.



Recipients of Corrections Exemplary Service Awards must have worked for

at least ten years in a correctional institution, parole or probation

office, and have demonstrated exemplary conduct and displayed

excellence and devotion to duty.



"Corrections staff play a vital role in our justice system," Nilson

said. "The individuals honoured today exemplify the patience,

understanding and courage that are needed to protect the public and to

provide offenders with the assistance they need on a daily basis.

Congratulations to all the recipients."



Sixteen men and women received Exemplary Service Medals for at least 20

years of distinguished service with the Corrections Branch of

Saskatchewan Justice or the Correctional Service of Canada. Three

previous medal recipients received Exemplary Service Bars recognizing

an additional decade of service.



Saskatchewan Justice 1997 honourees are: Issac Burgess and Ronald Rabyj

from Saskatoon Correctional Centre; James Dohms and Donna Weisshaar

from Regina Correctional Centre; Michael Holbrow from Regina Community

Training Residence; James Kleckner from Moose Jaw Community Operations;

Terry Lang from Community Operations Central Office; Annette

Neustaedter and Henri Samson from Prince Albert Correctional Centre;

and Kenneth Sauverwald from Saskatoon Community Training Residence.



Correctional Service of Canada 1997 honourees are: Glenn Beatty from

the Regional Headquarters in Saskatoon; Fred Chester, Alvin Cronk,

Robin Paul, Wayne Shewchuk and Richard Stefanowski from Saskatchewan

Penitentiary in Prince Albert; Cynthia Monaghan from the Oskana

Community Correctional Centre in Regina; Joy Paul from the Regional

Psychiatric Centre in Saskatoon; and Andrew Rollo from the Saskatchewan

Parole District in Regina.
