SGI CANADA CURLING BONSPIEL MAKES PROFIT FOR CHARITIES

Released on March 14, 1996

Clay Serby, minister responsible for Saskatchewan Government Insurance
(SGI), today announced that the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada,
Saskatchewan Division, and the Saskatchewan Head Injury Association were
each recipients of $5,000, sharing the profit of the 1995 SGI CANADA
Charity Classic curling bonspiel.

"We're pleased that this exciting Saskatchewan curling event has raised
more than $20,000 for charity since its inception in 1993," Serby said.
"The Charity Classic has earned the reputation among curlers and
spectators as a first-rate event offering quality arena ice and world-
class competition. We've hosted some exceptional curlers, such as Ed
Werenich, Al Hackner, Kerry Burtnyk and provincial champ Rod Montgomery
from Moose Jaw."

Serby also announced that proceeds for the 1996 Charity Classic will go
to the Children's Health Foundation of Saskatchewan.

"We are very excited about being involved with the SGI CANADA Charity
Classic," Foundation Executive Director Jim Kapeluck said. "This is an
excellent event with some of the world's best curlers competing, and one
of the sure winners will now be Saskatchewan children!"

The SGI CANADA Charity Classic will return to the Regina Agridome Oct.
11 to 14, featuring more top-notch curling and two evenings of great
entertainment at the Classic cabarets. A four-day pass will sell for
$20, while day passes will be available for $10 each. Tickets go on sale
Sept. 1 at SGI offices throughout Saskatchewan.
