Celebrate Saskatchewan's 90th birthday and enjoy the many events taking
place at our provincial parks this weekend and throughout the week.
With vacation season in full swing, the parks are filling quickly and
campers are advised to phone the campground offices before leaving to
check on site availability.
Some of the events in the parks this weekend, starting on Friday,
include a moonlight hike at Buffalo Pound, a "jam" session with the
wolves at Duck Mountain, and Mother Earth theatre at Lac la Ronge.
On Saturday, there is a bike rodeo and parade at Battlefords, a
magician/hypnotist at Cypress Hills, sand castle contests at Douglas
and Meadow Lake, and a fishing derby at Rowan's Ravine.
Sunday's events include the Great Saskatchewan Songwriter's Jam session
at Buffalo Pound, the Hillbilly Hustle (racing, canoeing, swimming, and
biking) at Cypress Hills, the grand opening of the visitor centre at
Grieg Lake in Meadow Lake, and a kite festival at Moose Mountain.
Good angling conditions are reported at Cypress Hills, Tobin Lake,
Douglas, Duck Mountain, Saskatchewan Landing, Echo Valley, and Moose
Mountain provincial parks. Catches of the Week include a 3.12 kg
walleye and a 8.58 kg northern pike at Tobin Lake, and a 5.46 kg
rainbow trout at Danielson Provincial Park.
