THIRD SGI CANADA CHARITY CURLING CLASSIC SET FOR OCTOBER

Released on September 18, 1995

Ed Tchorzewski, minister responsible for SGI, said today that 1995
World Curling champion Kerry Burtnyk and defending Charity Classic
champion Ed Werenich are among the 32 top curlers slated to compete in
the third annual SGI CANADA Charity Classic curling bonspiel on
Thanksgiving weekend in Regina.

"It's a rare treat for curling fans to see the current World Curling
champion, along with many former world, national and provincial curling
champions, all under one roof right here in Saskatchewan," Tchorzewski
said. "SGI is proud to have assembled such a distinguished field of
curlers, and we hope the fans come out to enjoy the weekend."

Burtnyk and Werenich will be joined by 1993 Charity Classic Champion Al
Hackner, Switzerland's Felix Luchsinger and Andi Schwaller, Manitoba's
Vic Peters and Arnold Asham, Saskatchewan's Brad Heidt and Randy
Woytowich and many more, all vying for $60,000 in prize money.

Proceeds from the Charity Classic will again be donated to the Multiple
Sclerosis Society of Canada, Saskatchewan division, and the
Saskatchewan Head Injury Association. The two groups shared last
year's profit of $10,000.

"The SGI CANADA Charity Classic offers Saskatchewan's many curling fans
a chance to see the sport's top teams in action, to take in some great
local musical talent, and to support two very deserving organizations,"
Tchorzewski said. "It's a combination that promises an exciting and
entertaining weekend."

Curling action begins in the Regina Agridome on October 6, with the
final games going October 9. Ticket holders can take in two evenings
of entertainment, featuring Faster Gun on Friday and Ian Eaton on
Saturday.

Tickets for the SGI CANADA Charity Classic are available now from any
SGI claim centre in the province, SGI's head office in Regina, and from
SGI Canada brokers throughout Saskatchewan. Four-day passes, covering
all events, are $15 advance or $20 at the door. Day passes will also
be sold during the event.
