EXEMPLARY CORRECTIONS SERVICE HONOURED

Released on September 11, 1995

Lieutenant Governor Jack Wiebe and Justice Minister Bob Mitchell today
recognized 37 men and women for career achivements in the provincial
and federal corrrectional services.

Twenty-nine men and women received Exemplary Service Medals
commemorating at least 20 years of distinguished service with the
Corrections Branch of Saskatchewan Justice, the Young Offender Program
of Saskatchewan Social Services or the Correctional Service of Canada.
Eight previous medal recipients received Exemplary Service Bars
recognizing an additional decade of service.

Saskatchewan Justice 1995 honourees are: Collin Campbell and David
Wolbaum from the Regina Correctional Centre; Dale Kraus and Charles Van
Dusen from the Regina Community Training Residence; Robert Allen, Wayne
Boyle, Stella Demery, Ed Dernoga, Gordon Floata, Floyd Lavallee,
Johannes Van Der Laan and Bill Snook, all from the Prince Albert
Correctional Centre; George Clark from Prince Albert Community
Operations; Isobel Patterson from the Pine Grove Correctional Centre,
and Tom MacCallum from Northern Corrections. From the Young Offenders
Program of Saskatchewan Social Services, Tom Stickland received an
Exemplary Service Medal.

Correctional Service of Canada 1995 honourees are: Dina Dennis and
Robert Newman from the Oskana Community Correctional Centre in Regina;
the Reverend Arnold Bablitz, Ivan Moxness and Prairie Region Assistant
Deputy Commissioner Paul Oleniuk all from Regional Headquarters in
Saskatoon; Thomas Breckner and William Hayes from the Regional
Psychiatric Centre in Saskatoon; Allan Briere, Terrance Hall, Kenneth
Johnson, Debra Juker, Louis Kurytnik, Barry Read, Douglas Stewart,
Victor Taylor, Joseph Yuzik and former Warden James O'Sullivan all from
the Saskatchewan Penitentiary in Prince Albert; and Wilfred Brown,
Kasper Hordyski, Gary Skotheim, and Sharon Woloszyn from the Riverbend
Institution.

Recipients of Corrections Exemplary Service Awards must have worked for
at least ten years in a correctional institution, parole or probation
office, demonstrating good conduct and displaying excellence and
devotion to duty. The awards were developed in 1984 to recognize the
hazardous conditions faced by peace officers working with offenders.
