Released on March 28, 1995
Attorney General Ned Shillington today announced that Peter Martin of
Calgary has been appointed as independent counsel to review the Phoenix
Advertising matter.
Shillington said that Martin, a highly-respected Calgary lawyer, will
review the Crown prosecutors' decision not to charge Phoenix
Advertising or its employees in relation to transactions which resulted
in the conviction of former MLA Murray Koskie.
Martin is president of the Law Society of Alberta and is a former
senior Crown prosecutor in Alberta. Shillington said that all
materials provided to the prosecutors by police, and the prosecutor's
