CHRISTMAS LIGHTS EVENT AT LEGISLATURE DEC. 7, 1995

Saskatchewan will join in the Christmas Lights Across Canada
celebration Thursday evening, Dec. 7, when Premier Roy Romanow turns on
the Christmas lights at the Legislative Building in Regina, Provincial
Secretary Ned Shillington said today.

"The Christmas lights program at the Saskatchewan Legislature is a
public event with activities for the entire family," Shillington said.
"I encourage everyone to come out and take part in this Canada-wide
celebration of the holidays."

Sleigh rides are available, beginning at 6 p.m. There will also be
carolling and a visit from Santa Claus.

At 6:55 p.m., Romanow will throw the switch to turn on the lights at
the Legislature. Through the Christmas Lights Across Canada program,
lights are turned on at the same time at the Parliament Buildings in
Ottawa and the Legislative Buildings of the provincial and territorial
capitals.

Following the outdoor ceremony, the Legislative Building will be open
for refreshments, carolling and viewing of a live nativity scene. The
public is invited to bring contributions to the Regina and District
Food Bank.

The Christmas Lights Across Canada event is the concluding event of the
90th Anniversary program.
