Growing Trust in Agriculture During the Season of Giving

By Alison Fransoo, PAg, Agriculture Programs Specialist, North Battleford

December 2025

As the holiday season draws near, many embrace the spirit of giving while they celebrate with friends and family. In agriculture, several non-profit organizations welcome donations to help fund their efforts to build and strengthen public trust in our industry. Their important work fosters greater awareness and understanding of agriculture and where our food comes from. If you’re interested in donating this season, consider the following organizations:

A group of people observing some cattle behind a fence in a field
A group of people touring a cattle operation

Agriculture in the Classroom Saskatchewan (AITC-SK) partners with the agriculture industry and education communities to connect students to agriculture through innovative curriculum-based programs and resources. AITC-SK works with teachers to educate students about food systems, sustainability and farming practices to create awareness and well-informed consumers from an early age. AITC-SK helps students understand where their food comes from, the importance of science and technology in producing food, and how farmers care for both the land and animals. The organization helps students think critically about the information they are exposed to, especially when it comes to food production. The ways to get involved with AITC-SK include donating funds for resource development, donating time to present to a classroom in March during Canadian Agriculture Literacy Month (CALM) and more. Visit the AITC-SK website to learn more about how you can help.

Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan (FFC SK) works to find new and innovative ways to connect consumers to farmers, ranchers and others involved in food production. They champion the agriculture industry and educate the public about the safe and affordable food produced in Saskatchewan. Several involvement options include hosting a farm tour, volunteering your time or donating funds. Learn more about what FFC SK is all about and the resources on their website.

4-H Saskatchewan works with youth to develop leadership skills, self-confidence and a sense of community. Members develop these skills by following 4 H’s motto: ‘Learn to Do by Doing.’ 4-H members can choose from multiple project options. This organization is one of Canada’s most valued youth programs with roots in many communities. Visit the 4-H Saskatchewan website to learn more about the group, how you can volunteer or other ways you can donate.

These organizations all make a difference in their own way. Your donations, whether time or money, help make our agriculture industry stronger and more resilient. Consider supporting these organizations during this holiday season or anytime throughout the year.
