Milk Products Compositional Standards

The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture licenses milk processors under The Animal Production Regulations. The goal is to ensure that fluid cow’s milk products sold to the public meet the compositional standards specified in the regulations.

To obtain a Milk Products Compositional Standards Licence:

  • You must submit a Compositional Standards Licence application. Contact the Livestock Branch at 306-787-2150 to get an application.
  • Your milk processing establishment must be federally or provincially inspected for food safety compliance.
    • Federally inspected milk processing establishments must hold a federal registration issued as described under the Registration and Licences section of the Safe Food for Canadians Act.
    • Provincially inspected milk processing establishments must be licensed and inspected by the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
  • You must also hold a licence through SaskMilk.

The following milk processors are licensed under this program:

  • Saputo Dairy Products Canada G.P. - Licence number: 5001
  • Saskatchewan Food Industry Development Centre Inc. - Licence number: 5002
  • Saskatoon Spruce Cheese Ltd. - Licence number: 8001
