The Saskatchewan Premises Identification (PID) system is an integral part of Canada's traceability system. This program facilitates linking livestock and poultry to geographic locations for planning and responding to animal health issues and emergency response.
PID is one of the three pillars of a livestock traceability system. The other two pillars are animal identification and animal movement reporting. The national traceability system is expected to encompass all livestock and poultry species produced in Canada.
