Saskatchewan Communities Receive Approximately $1.3 Million in Charitable Gaming Grants

More than 700 groups and organizations focused on strengthening Saskatchewan communities are receiving approximately $1.3 million from the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA)’s charitable gaming grant program.

“Strong communities are made up of volunteers who work together for the betterment of others,” Minister responsible for SLGA Don McMorris said.  “Our government is pleased to provide charitable gaming grants to further support the volunteer efforts of these groups and organizations.”

Among the grants provided by SLGA this quarter: Moose Jaw and surrounding area received $108,090; Melville and surrounding area: $78,183; Meadow Lake and surrounding area: $64,044; Humboldt and surrounding area: $48,247 and North Battleford and surrounding area: $37,890.

These quarterly grants are based on a percentage of net proceeds raised through licensed charitable gaming activities such as bingos, raffles, breakopen tickets, Texas Hold'em poker and Monte Carlo events.

Charitable gaming reports submitted by groups are used by SLGA to automatically calculate grant amounts.
