Resources for Heritage Professionals

Heritage professionals are professional and avocational archaeologists and palaeontologists who conduct research and heritage resource management investigations in Saskatchewan.

Heritage Professional Qualifications

All heritage investigations for archaeological (and palaeontological) work in Saskatchewan must be carried out under permit by those who meet the minimum requirements for permit holding status in the Archaeological Permit Policy.

New permit holders must first go through a vetting process to assess their qualifications, and all requests for permit holding status must be emailed to the Heritage Conservation Branch – Archaeological Resource Management to initiate this process.

Permit applications for heritage investigations by individuals who have permit holding status in Saskatchewan are submitted through the Heritage Resources Screening system.

Resources

The following guides, templates and other information documents outline the requirements for how heritage (archaeological and palaeontological) work is to be conducted and reported on in Saskatchewan.
