Penalties and fines related to violations of The Immigration Services Act and The Immigration Services Regulations are an important mechanism for protecting foreign workers from exploitation and mistreatment during the recruitment and immigration process.
- Sections 3-9 and 4-8 of The Immigration Services Act identify the criteria of suspending, amending or cancellation of licences for individuals and corporations.
- Section 7-6 of The Immigration Services Act sets out the maximum fines for an individual or corporation.

2. Penalties
Violating The Immigration Services Act (ISA) or The Immigration Services Regulations can result in:
- Licences for immigration consultants or foreign worker recruiters, and Certificates of Registration for employers being revoked;
- Fines up to $750,000 for an individual and $1,250,000 for a company; or
- Administrative penalties up to $200,000 for an individual or up to $400,000 for a corporation.
