Indigenous Languages Scholarships

The Government of Saskatchewan is providing funds for students studying Indigenous Languages at the First Nations University of Canada. These scholarships were established in recognition of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages and support the protection and revitalization of Indigenous Languages in Saskatchewan.

The First Nations University of Canada administers the scholarships and selects the recipients. Students can learn more by visiting the First Nations University of Canada website.

 

The Solomon Ratt Indigenous Language and Language Literacy Scholarship

The Solomon Ratt Indigenous Languages Literacy Scholarship was established to support Indigenous Language studies in honour of Solomon Ratt, a recently retired First Nations University of Canada Indigenous Languages and Linguistics faculty member.

The scholarship offers $1,500 to full-time students and $500 to part-time students. Bi-annual scholarship deadlines are October 31 and February 28.

Indigenous Language Revitalization Entrance Scholarship

The Indigenous Language Revitalization Entrance Scholarship is currently in development and is anticipated to Launch in Winter 2024.

The Indigenous Language Revitalization Entrance Scholarship provides students with the opportunity to pursue post-secondary education and encourages careers in Indigenous languages.

This scholarship supports up to 10 students per year with a $1,000 award. The annual scholarship deadline is August 15.

First Nation Language Instructor Certificate Scholarship

The First Nation Language Instructor Certificate Scholarship provides financial support to students enrolled in the First Nation Language Instructor Certificate program and encourages careers in teaching Indigenous languages.

This scholarship supports up to 10 students per year with a $1,000 award. Bi-annual scholarship deadlines are October 31 and February 28.
