2. Guidelines

Applications must come from certified teachers and they must work with their school and school division administration for approval of the application.

The maximum allowable amount for each project is $75,000.

Unsuccessful applications from previous rounds must be resubmitted to be considered again as:

  • applications may have defined time frames which have since passed;
  • there may have been teacher movement within school and school divisions; and,
  • projects may no longer be applicable or a school division priority.

To resubmit a project, complete the application in the designated link below.

Project applications should demonstrate how the proposal is innovative, how the outcomes will be measured and how the project will impact students and staff.

Examples of criteria that will be considered include:

  • Projects that are innovative and creative extending learning opportunities beyond the conventional classroom practice;
  • Projects that address classroom complexity;
  • Projects that positively impact student engagement (attendance), credit attainment, literacy and numeracy data, graduation rates;
  • Projects that provide opportunities for smooth transitions through the education system and into future employment (e.g., designing programs to link students with the workplace and community).
  • Projects that engage parents or community in support of learning;
  • Projects that are one time funding opportunities that will have a lasting impact on the school with minimal on-going commitments (e.g., staffing is not considered in applications).

Funding is awarded to school divisions once projects are approved. Projects that receive funding will be required to submit a report of their project providing details including:

  • Number of students impacted;
  • Results;
  • Challenges; and
  • Learnings.
