Saskatchewan Polytechnic New Degree Applications

The Ministry of Advanced Education is seeking input from stakeholders and the public on a request from Saskatchewan Polytechnic for authorization of two new degrees. Stakeholder and public input will inform the ministry's analysis of each application.

Bachelor of Applied Dental Hygiene

Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing

The public consultation period will end on Monday, June 4, 2026.

The applications have been made pursuant to section 7 of The Degree Authorization Act. Each application includes an application form and a program proposal. The application form provides information on Saskatchewan Polytechnic and identifies where particular topics are addressed within the program proposal. Please note that some information in the applications have been redacted to protect confidential information. The program proposal provides detailed information for the ministry to use to assess whether the proposed degree program meets five criteria as prescribed in Section 8 of The Degree Authorization Regulations:

  1. how the proposed degree program will benefit Saskatchewan learners and the Saskatchewan post-secondary education system;
  2. how the proposed degree program will advance the economic and social priorities of Saskatchewan;
  3. how the proposed degree program aligns with the applicant’s mandate, mission and strategic plan;
  4. the marketability of the proposed degree program in terms of student demand and the employability of graduates; and
  5. the applicant’s fiscal plan for implementation of the proposed degree program, including the financial implications for students, the applicant and the Government of Saskatchewan.

As part of its assessment, the ministry will consider whether the proposed degree programs complement or duplicate other degree programs already offered in Saskatchewan.

If you wish to submit comments on how one or both of the proposed degree programs meet any or all of the assessment criteria, please provide your submission via email or letter mail using the information below.

All submissions will be sent to the applicant and the Ministry of Advanced Education. The applicant will have the opportunity to respond to all submissions. Please note that the ministry will not respond to any submissions.
