The Government of Saskatchewan is undertaking research and engagement to inform the legislative review of The Environmental Management and Protection Act, 2010. As part of this effort, the Ministry of Environment released a discussion paper on June 30, 2023, inviting interested parties to provide feedback on the Act. We focused on three areas in the discussion paper:
- Language;
- Enforcement and compliance measures; and
- Harmonization with other legislation and regulations.
The ministry is pleased to release the What We Heard document, a comprehensive summary of the feedback we received during the two-month comment period. Releasing the What We Heard document is an important step in the ministry’s engagement process. The information gathered will help us as we update and refine the Act.
We appreciate the active participation of all parties involved in this process and encourage everyone to review the What We Heard document. The ministry will continue to seek feedback from Indigenous communities, stakeholders and the public throughout this legislative review process.
