Saskatchewan Supports Farm Safety During Agricultural Safety Week

Released on March 16, 2026

The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed March 15 - 21, 2026 as Agricultural Safety Week, demonstrating the province's commitment to safer farms, ranches, agri-businesses and rural workplaces.

"Farm safety is about choosing safer practices today to protect farmers and farm workers," Agriculture Minister David Marit said. "Agricultural Safety Week serves as a reminder to pause, assess your operation and make sure everyone on the farm understands safe procedures before the next growing season."

Safety is a fundamental aspect of ensuring the long-term strength of Saskatchewan's agriculture industry. The province is once again proud to support Canadian Agricultural Safety Week (CASW), a national initiative led by the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) in partnership with the Canadian Centre for Rural and Agricultural Health. CASW encourages producers, families, farm workers and rural communities to make #FarmSafetyEveryday a priority.

The 2026 campaign highlights daily themes essential to safer farms, including machinery safety, emergency preparedness, rail and road safety, livestock safety and the leadership of women in agriculture safety. These priorities reflect the evolving needs of the industry and underscore the value of training, risk management and an inclusive safety culture.

Saskatchewan residents can show their support by wearing an AgSafe ribbon, available at the Ministry of Agriculture regional offices, or using a digital ribbon available at CASA's website, alongside other resources, including stories on farm safe practices, safety advice and promotional materials.
