Celebrating International Women's Day at the Legislature

Released on March 5, 2026

Over 70 women leaders from private sector, public sector, and non-profit organizations across Saskatchewan gathered at the Legislature today to celebrate International Women's Day, which Saskatchewan has proclaimed for March 8th.

"Women are building a strong, safe, and secure Saskatchewan by taking positions in corporate c-suites, executive government, on boards, and in our communities," Minister Responsible for the Status of Women Alana Ross said. "Celebrating International Women's Day together provides a valuable opportunity to strengthen our relationships and lead the way for the next generation."

As part of the event, women leaders were introduced in the House and attended a networking reception hosted by Minister Ross, with representation from sectors including mining, construction, banking, insurance, legal practice, consulting, innovation and technology, retail trade, tourism, economic development, charitable services, social services, health services, creative industries, arts, heritage, and community development and representation.

"Women are a key driver of Saskatchewan's economy, and it is important to celebrate that success," Ross said. "We also need to remember that leadership in our society goes beyond the workplace and to recognize women in all aspects of our lives, including their contributions to the broader community."

As of 2025-26, more than 55 per cent of both senior leadership positions and overall positions in the Government of Saskatchewan were held by women, reflecting the ongoing contributions of women to building our province through public service.
