Saskatchewan Proclaims October as Disability Employment Awareness Month

Released on October 2, 2025

The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed October as Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM), in partnership with Saskatchewan Association of Rehabilitation Centres (SARC).

"Disability Employment Awareness Month offers us an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the many contributions individuals with disabilities make to Saskatchewan businesses and communities," Deputy Premier and Minister of Immigration and Career Training Jim Reiter said. "We are proud to support the great work SARC does in building an inclusive Saskatchewan workforce."

DEAM is an opportunity to recognize the importance of a diverse workforce and celebrate the many contributions individuals with disabilities make to Saskatchewan businesses and communities.

The Saskatchewan Labour Market Strategy: Building the Workforce for a Growing Economy outlines actions that the government is currently taking to increase the number of persons experiencing disability in the labour force, including investing in Employability Assistance for Persons with Disabilities Programs across Saskatchewan.

"We are grateful that the Government of Saskatchewan has once again proclaimed October as Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM)," SARC Executive Director Amy McNeil said. "This initiative is crucial in promoting the economic benefits of hiring people experiencing disability and celebrating Saskatchewan employers who have already diversified their workforce and accessed a previously untapped pool of skilled workers."

The Ministry of Immigration and Career training is committed to helping everyone in Saskatchewan find and have access to a job by offering career planning, employment services and access to training for in-demand jobs.
