Saskatchewan communities will benefit from 457 grants totaling $6,526,313 from the Community Initiatives Fund's (CIF) February 1st and April 1st deadlines. These grants will support innovative local initiatives, build vibrant communities and enrich the quality of life in 156 communities.
Through its Community Grant Program's April 1st deadline, CIF approved $4,881,207 in support of 202 grants, for programs that contribute to the wellbeing of children and youth, families and communities.
These programs provide opportunities for children and youth to gain knowledge, skills, and supports to promote positive mental health, self-esteem, and healthy lifestyle behaviours, and to ensure families have access to supports and resources to create healthy and caring environments. Funding also supports nonprofit organizations to enhance their program delivery, governance and leadership capacities and to engage individuals as volunteers.
Additionally, 255 Summer Grant programs were approved totaling $1,645,106 to support camps and day programs offering positive recreation, arts, culture and learning opportunities for Saskatchewan children and youth during the summer months.
"The Community Initiatives Fund plays a crucial role in supporting a wide range of organizations, people and communities throughout the province," Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Alana Ross said. "These grants help strengthen important programs, while enhancing the quality of life for all Saskatchewan people. Our government is proud to support the CIF's important work through a dedicated share of annual SaskGaming casino revenues, which typically results in $8 million to $9 million of funding each year."
"At the Community Initiatives Fund, we are continually inspired by the dedication and innovation of the organizations we support," Community Initiatives Fund Executive Director Tracey Mann said. "Their efforts make a lasting difference in communities across Saskatchewan, and we are proud to be part of that impact."
The CIF is a Special Purpose Fund created through The Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan Corporation Act and managed by a government appointed Board of community volunteers.
