Funding Supports Repairs and Accessibility in Group Homes and Day Programs

Released on August 27, 2025

The Government of Saskatchewan is investing approximately $1.3 million in capital grant funding to improve safety and accessibility of group homes and day programs, ensuring adults with intellectual disabilities live more independently.

"The Ministry of Social Services is proud to work with partners across Saskatchewan to provide services to our shared clients," Social Services Minister Terry Jenson said. "By investing in capital improvements, we ensure that our service delivery partners can continue to deliver quality programming to adults with intellectual disabilities so they can live with dignity, purpose and choice in their communities."

This investment, as part of the 2025-26 Budget, is part of a comprehensive, multi-year plan to upgrade program facilities. The grants will support renovations and repairs to residential and day program properties operated by 21 third-party service organizations across the province. Projects include kitchen and bathroom upgrades, accessibility improvements, fire-safety enhancements and other structural repairs.

Residential services offer supportive community living for individuals with intellectual disabilities, while day programs and supported employment help participants build skills, form meaningful relationships, enhance their quality of life and gain work experience.
