Correctional Services Appreciation Day

Released on May 9, 2023

The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed May 9, 2023, as Correctional Services Appreciation Day.

Correctional Services has a diverse range of expertise, programs and positions that collectively work together to provide custody, supervision as well as rehabilitation services to both adult and youth offenders in Saskatchewan.

"Working in Corrections is a challenging career, but many Correctional Services employees will tell you that it is very rewarding as well," Corrections, Policing and Public Safety Minister Christine Tell said. "Correctional employees are passionate about the work they do and the difference they are making to ensure safer communities in Saskatchewan. I am very proud of their dedication to the public service."

There are approximately 2200 provincial correctional officers, facility youth workers and probation officers/community youth workers across the province of Saskatchewan.

To mark Correctional Services Appreciation Day, Minister Tell will introduce employees representing their facilities and offices in the Legislative Assembly. Minister Tell will also be handing out the Minister's Award for Excellence to acknowledge outstanding work in Corrections.

Each correctional facility and community corrections office will hold an appreciation event for staff.
