$770,000 For Meadow Lake Policing Initiatives

The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety is providing $770,000 to the City of Meadow Lake through the Municipal Police Grants program in 2021-22. This investment will support seven existing police positions in Meadow Lake.

"We are committed to providing our policing services with the resources they need," Trade and Export Development Minister and Meadow Lake MLA Jeremy Harrison said on behalf of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety Minister Christine Tell.  "This investment demonstrates our government's continued efforts to prioritize public safety."

The Municipal Police Grants program supports enhanced community policing throughout the city and works to ensure a safer community, which is a top priority for the Government of Saskatchewan.

"On behalf of the City of Meadow Lake, I want to thank the province for their ongoing assistance through this program," Meadow Lake Mayor Merlin Seymour said. "Community policing plays an important role in keeping our residents safe, and this grant funding allows us to support our busy detachment as they respond to local challenges. We appreciate the efforts our local officers have put toward gang suppression and know that this funding will help them continue this important work."

The Ministry of Corrections and Policing provides funds to police services across Saskatchewan through the Municipal Police Grants program to support 133 municipal police positions and targeted policing initiatives.
