Today, Premier Scott Moe joined Saskatoon Mayor Charlie Clark to highlight the city’s $35.5 million in provincial funding under Saskatchewan’s Municipal Economic Enhancement Program (MEEP).
“This program is a crucial part of our government’s economic ‘booster shot’ to stimulate the economy due to the impacts of the pandemic,” Moe said. “These investments for projects like the ones here in Saskatoon are to support job creation and keep Saskatchewan as strong as the resilient people who call this great province home.”
Under MEEP the City of Saskatoon is receiving $35.5 million for projects such as:
- City-Wide Paved Roadways Preservation
- Downtown Festival Site
- Roadside Safety Improvements
- Neighbourhood Traffic Safety Upgrades
- City-Wide Sidewalk Rehabilitation
The $150 million MEEP was announced in May. It is a key component of the Government of Saskatchewan’s $7.5 billion, two-year capital plan to build a strong province and stimulate its economic recovery from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Program funding must be used by municipalities by March 31, 2022.
