In March 2017, wholesale trade in Saskatchewan grew 13.8 per cent (seasonally adjusted) over March 2016, above the national average of 10.2 per cent for the same period. Saskatchewan ranked third in percentage growth among the provinces.“Wholesale trade continued to grow in March, and that shows that our provincial economy remains strong and resilient,” Economy Minister Jeremy Harrison said. “Growth in wholesale trade points to optimism as wholesale trade statistics are known as a leading indicator of future economic growth.”
Wholesale trade totalled $2.2 billion in March.
The industries that experienced the largest (unadjusted) growth increases over last year are motor vehicle and parts (24.6 per cent); machinery, equipment and supplies (21.8 per cent); and miscellaneous merchant (12.3 per cent).
From February 2017 to March 2017, wholesale trade in the province increased by 1.4 per cent (seasonally adjusted).
