New Deputy Minister Appointed to Ministry of Social Services

Released on November 5, 2015

A new senior leader for the Ministry of Social Services is being announced by Deputy Minister to the Premier Doug Moen.  Greg Miller assumes the role of Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Social Services.

“Greg has made significant contributions to the Child and Youth Agenda since joining the Ministry of Education in 2011,” Moen said.  “He has been a driving force in moving forward our cross-government approach to addressing the complex issues facing Saskatchewan children and families.  I am confident he will continue his excellent work in his new role at Social Services.”

Miller was the Associate Deputy Minister of Education with responsibility for the area of Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 education.  He guided the work of Student Achievement and Supports, Early Learning, and the Provincial Library and Literacy Office.

Ken Acton, current Deputy Minister, will remain with the ministry in the role of Special Advisor to the Deputy Minister of Social Services.

“Ken has provided valuable leadership in protecting Saskatchewan’s most vulnerable people, and I wish to express my sincere gratitude for his tireless work,” Moen said.  “I am very happy to announce that he will continue to provide his insight and guidance to the employees at the Ministry of Social Services in his advisory role.”

Acton has filled many senior leadership roles since joining the Saskatchewan Public Service in 1988 including his work on a variety of complex files within the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General before his appointment as Deputy Minister of Social Services in January 2012.
