Saskatchewan Hosts Western Premiers’ Conference

Released on June 1, 2015

Today Premier Brad Wall will host a meeting of Canada’s Western Premiers via teleconference.

“It is a pleasure to meet with my provincial and territorial colleagues to discuss the unique set of issues, challenges, and opportunities that we in Western Canada are currently facing,” Wall said.

The main focus of this year’s conference will be the economy, including market access, international trade and infrastructure.  Climate change, internal trade and labour mobility will be discussed as well.

“It’s important for us as western leaders to share ideas about how to meet the challenges ahead, many of which transcend borders,” Wall said.  “Western Premiers’ Conference provides us with the opportunity to develop a common outlook on the way forward.”

The Western Premiers’ Conference is held annually.  It brings together the leaders of Canada’s four western provinces and three territories in order to advance priorities and mutual areas of interest.
