SaskPower’s Boundary Dam Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Project will be showcased to China’s top economic agency in Shanghai on March 27.Economy Minister Bill Boyd will be presenting at the National Development and Reform Commission’s Annual Conference – a premier social and economic development event attended by China’s top public and resource sector leaders.
Minister Boyd will also be discussing Saskatchewan's vast investment potential with companies in Beijing and Singapore. The investment mission concludes on April 4.
“I can proudly say that Saskatchewan’s investment climate is one of the strongest in North America and has been for quite some time,” Boyd said. “China has a considerable interest in our province’s oil and gas sector as well the innovative technology that is being developed and piloted right here at home, including our CCS technology and our Enhanced Oil Recovery methods.”
Located near Estevan, the Boundary Dam Project is the world’s first and largest CCS project. SaskPower expects to launch the project later in 2014.
While in China, Minister Boyd will also meet with key players in the Chinese government and the country’s private sector, including the Chinese National Petroleum Company, Sinopec and CanSea Oil Ltd.
“Our government has worked hard to grow and foster a strong relationship with both the government and private industry in China,” Boyd said. “Any opportunity to showcase and help generate foreign investment is a good opportunity.”
