Minister Mcmillan to Promote Saskatchewan at World Heavy Oil Congress in New Orleans

Released on March 4, 2014

Energy and Resources Minister Tim McMillan will attend the World Heavy Oil Congress (WHOC) in New Orleans, Louisiana this week.

“I am excited to promote the investment and growth opportunities in Saskatchewan’s oil industry to key global investors and decision makers,” McMillan said.  “Last year, we produced a record 177.9 million barrels of crude oil in Saskatchewan and almost half of that is heavy oil.”

Minister McMillan will meet with companies and investors who are interested in continuing to develop Saskatchewan’s heavy oil resources.  He will also be giving a keynote address to the conference on Thursday, March 6 where he will highlight the great investment opportunities and the competitive business climate Saskatchewan offers.

WHOC is one of the largest heavy oil shows in the world drawing more than 1,000 delegates from over 30 countries.  The conference provides the opportunity for international oil companies, investors and business people to attend technical sessions, business conference panels, keynote presentations, courses and technical tours.

The conference runs March 5 to March 7.
