STC Passenger Fare Increase Effective August 1, 2014

Saskatchewan Transportation Company (STC) passenger fares will increase by an average of 5.5 per cent beginning August 1, 2014.  The average fare increase per ticket will be $1.90 based on an average one way trip of 182 kilometres (113 miles). 

“Like any business, STC faces inflationary pressures on our operating expenses for necessities such as fuel, maintenance and staffing,” STC President and CEO Shawn Grice said.  “Our goal is to issue smaller annual increases that will help offset the amount of government subsidy that STC requires, but at the same time keep our bus service as affordable as possible for our passengers.”

Grice noted that STC continues to offer a variety of sales and promotions to drive ridership and encourage new and repeat riders.  The company is currently offering a Youth Seat Sale that allows persons ages 12 to 25 to purchase a one way ticket anywhere STC travels for just $20 plus tax.  Youth Seat Sale tickets are available for purchase from any STC agency until August 31, 2014. 

The last STC passenger fare increase was for 4.7 per cent and occurred October 15, 2013.
