CONGRATULATIONS TO ARTS AWARDS RECIPIENTS

Lieutenant Governor Vaughn Solomon Schofield and Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Kevin Doherty offer congratulations to the recipients of the 2013 Lieutenant Governor’s Arts Awards announced Wednesday evening at the Lieutenant Governor’s Arts Awards Gala in Regina.

The 2013 winners are:

  • Guy Vanderhaeghe, Saskatoon - Lifetime Achievement in the Arts
  • Misty Wensel, Regina – Arts and Learning
  • Shona Stapleton, Prince Albert – Arts Volunteer
  • Andrew Salgado, Regina – Emerging Artist
  • Chrystene Ells, Regina – Leadership in the Arts - Individual
  • Saskatchewan Filmpool Co-operative – Leadership in the Arts - Organization
  • Ruth Cuthand, Saskatoon – Saskatchewan Artist

“We are blessed to live in a province where the arts flourish and where artists are valued,” Solomon Schofield said.  “I congratulate all of this year’s recipients, and I thank them for enriching our lives and our province.”

“Congratulations to the nominees and winners of the 2013 Lieutenant Governor’s Arts Awards; they deserve our acknowledgement and respect for their outstanding achievements,” Doherty said.  “I’d also like to thank the Saskatchewan Arts Board for organizing these awards and bringing these outstanding nominees and their accomplishments to our attention.

“Our government believes it is important to acknowledge accomplishments and recognize excellence in all fields of endeavour.  The outstanding work of these nominees demonstrates the strength of the arts in Saskatchewan.”
